About the Osteopath
Richard Fulton – Consultant Musculoskeletal Specialist and Exercise Physiologist
BSc (Hons) Physiology & Anatomy (University of Dundee), BSc (Hons) Osteopathy (University of Middlesex) Specialist in Strength and Conditioning and Functional Rehabilitation
With more than a decades worth of experience working in private practice Richard has developed a keen interest in Pain Science and Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation as well as acute understanding of pain, the causes of pain and the factors that influence pain.
Over the years in private practice, patterns begin to emerge, patient types begin to become apparent, and treatment approaches can best be modified to suite a particular person with a particular problem.
Experience shows that we are all individuals, no two people are the same, so there is no one size fits all approach. Therefore, having someone who is adaptable enough to harness the best form of treatment to guide a particular person with a particular problem is an art that takes time to develop.
We specialise in a deep understanding of Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology as well as how we can change someones physiology through exercise and education to achieve effective evidence based results.
An understanding of when to treat, when not to treat, what to say, what not to say, all play crucial roles in the path to getting someone better.
Over the years what has become apparent is that the KEY elements required to help someone is:
- Empathy
- Communication
- Support
- Understanding
- Reassurance
- Education
The more a person can be empowered to take control and understand there situation, results in better, longer lasting patient outcomes.
